Electricity in Cameroon: Price Hikes for Business Users From 2024

 Electricity bills will be steep for businesses from 2023. Indeed, on December 12, 2022, the Director General of the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency (Arsel) signed a "decision setting electricity tariffs."

Electricity for medium voltage customers and the minimum tariff negotiation thresholds for so-called large account customers"will increase between 2023 and 2025.

For customers in the 0-0.05 MW segment, for example, whose number of hours of consumption varies from 0 to 200 hours, the electricity rate is set at 95 F per kWh between 11 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 125 F between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Indeed, production could suddenly become unprofitable, especially for energy-intensive businesses. In addition, companies could pass on this increase in tariffs to the price of the final product intended for household consumption.
